Barros unhappy with Jerez results

The final day of preseason testing in Jerez did not leave a good taste in the mouth of Pramac D'Antin Ducati's Alex Barros.

The final day of preseason testing in Jerez did not leave a good taste in the mouth of Pramac D'Antin Ducati's Alex Barros. The Brazilian rider concluded the MotoGP Official Test with a best lap of 1'41.038, recorded on the third and last day of the event, to leave him 17th on the timesheets.

Following his earlier success in preceding preseason outings on the new Ducati GP7, in particular in Australia a month ago where he topped the timesheets on the two first days of testing at Phillip Island, Barros could not hide his disappointment at his Jerez results:

"Today I am not very satisfied, we know that we can do better. I had some problems with both the qualification and the race tyres. My race rhythm was not what I hoped for and I have not been able to work as I would have liked to," commented the 36 year old rider.

"In Qatar, Phillip Island and Sepang we found good set-ups for the bike but here it did not turn out as we expected. I didn't have the right feeling with the bike and I wasn't able to take corners at the highest speeds," explained the Brazilian.

Despite this, the veteran rider was still able to keep a positive frame of mind in general, saying: "Overall, our preseason tests have been good. There's still a lot of work to be done to be fully competitive, but in general terms I am satisfied with the work the team has done. I have the motivation to begin the World Championship fighting for podium finishes."
