Riders For Health review recent activity

Riders For Health, the Official MotoGP charity, have as ever been hard at work at the start of this year.

Riders For Health, the Official MotoGP charity, have as ever been hard at work at the start of this year. The worthy cause, who last week received a cheque for 5000 euros at Jerez courtesy of MotoGP rider Shinya Nakano, have released details of just some of the activities they have been up to over the past month.

"February may be a short month, but it has been a busy one for Riders and our supporters.

The beginning of February saw our former Zimbabwe programme director, Ngwarati Mashonga, begin work at the Daventry head office. Ngwarati began working for Riders in 1996 as a mechanic, and progressed through the organisation in Zimbabwe where he was responsible for overseeing 41 staff members and 596 vehicles. Ngwarati becomes the new field programme coordinator, and will be helping to replicate Riders' programmes throughout Africa.

Riders' new programme director in Zimbabwe is Tsitsi Gwese who takes over a programme that is going from strength to strength. Tsitsi said, "I see Riders Zimbabwe as a survivor, I have witnessed with my own eyes that the general public now do not die of preventable diseases, thanks to the work we are doing".

This work simply would not be possible without your continued support and Riders would like to thank all those who have helped to raise money for us this month.

And finally, excitement is growing as the new MotoGP season prepares to get under way. The final testing session has just finished at Jerez, Spain, and the first round is in Qatar on 10 March. As if that were not exciting enough, plans are almost finalised for the 2007 Day of Champions at Donington. This year's event will take place on Thursday 21 June and will involve the traditional ride-in from Coalville, the auction, and unique access to the paddock and pitlane. Tickets are not yet available, but as soon as we announce the date they go on sale, we will email all the subscribers of Riders News making sure you are the first to know."
