MotoGP World Champion, Nicky Hayden, this afternoon attended the first official press conference of the 2007 season ahead of the Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar, appearing alongside rivals Valentino Rossi, Randy de Puniet, Casey Stoner and John Hopkins to speak to the world's media.

Repsol Honda rider Hayden explained that he feels fully prepared for the start of what promises to be a highly exciting Championship, despite some of the problems he has encountered during the testing process of adapting to his new 800cc RC212V. He declared: "Testing is one thing, but racing is always the only way to know where you're at. There are things we definitely need to improve on, and lots of guys have been fast and motivated in pre-season. I don't feel there is a target on my back. There are new regulations but it's simple - ride fastest and you win. My shoulder is better and is no excuse anymore."

Meanwhile, Valentino Rossi, who was already sporting the new colours of the Fiat Yamaha Team, will be aiming for another victory in Losail, having secured maximum points on his last two visits to the Qatari circuit. The Italian rider commented: "I'm happy to finally get here as it means the hard work of preseason is over. But we never stop working or evolving. At the start I wasn't happy with the 800cc, I liked the power of the 990, but now I'm used to it. I didn't want any extra pressure so I renewed with Yamaha for two more years. I have no desire to ride for another team so it was clear in my mind."

Randy de Puniet has been one of the most impressive riders during preseason, showing great promise on his Ninja ZX-800RR. "I feel ready for the first race and confident about this season. Last year I competed with an injury but this year I feel much better and feel very strong," stated the French rider.

The young Australian rider Casey Stoner has made one of the most significant moves of the close season, to ride alongside Loris Capirossi in the new look Ducati Marlboro team in 2007. He stated: "We're moving in the right direction and I want to continue to be competitive. Things are different to last year because I'm in factory team and they can change things more quickly for me."

As of 9:00am local time tomorrow (GMT+3) the first battles of this exciting new season will commence when the first Grand Prix free practice sessions of 2007 get underway.
