Talmacsi sets pace again in Qatar

Gabor Talmacsi has this morning demonstrated the same good form in the first Comercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar 125cc free practice session that he displayed just four days ago on the same track as he completed preseason in the final Official Test of 2007.

With a lap of 2´07.184, the Hungarian Bancaja Aspar rider topped the timesheets at the Losail circuit to complete a satisfactory opening session ahead of the first race of the season this coming Saturday. Talmacsi's time was inside Alvaro Bautista's pole lap of 2'07.453 from 2006.

Meanwhile, Polaris World's Mattia Pasini and Talmacsi's fellow Bancaja Aspar rider Hector Faubel – both also on Aprilia machinery – were second and third fastest riders in the early morning session. The results replicated the positions from the last session of the Official Test on Sunday to again demonstrate that trio are the fastest competitors at the start of the Championship.

The young Italian Pasini's best time was just 0.364 seconds behind Talmacsi's pace setting lap, whilst the pair were the only two participants to go round in under the 2'07 mark.

In addition, Sergio Gadea was the third Bancaja Aspar rider in the top five on the timesheet, the Valencian being the fifth quickest rider on the desert track this morning, behind Ajo Motorsport's Michael Ranseder.

Indeed Ranseder was the only non-Aprilia rider recording a best lap time amongst the seven quickest on his Derbi prototype, as the aforementioned Gadea, along with Raffaele De Rosa and Pablo Nieto, completed a dominant session for Aprilia.

The Valsir Seedorf Racing pair of Nico Terol and Lukas Pesek on their Derbi machinery, and Britain's Repsol Honda hopeful Bradley Smith completed the list of top ten times in the first free practice session of the year.
