The Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar saw Ducati Marlboro's Casey Stoner secure a brilliant first ever MotoGP victory just ahead of Valentino Rossi, but all three podium finishers were happy with the result.

Casey Stoner, Ducati Marlboro (winner, 43'02.788)
""The whole weekend was great. We had a good setup and only made a couple of little changes. We mainly had to make the right tyre choice and it was obviously right because in the race I kept a nice consistent pace and everything went really well. Ducati have been perfect with me and I'm very happy with the way things have gone."

Valentino Rossi, Fiat Yamaha (2nd, 43'05.626)
"It was a good race, we made a good choice of tyres and the bike worked well. I'm very happy because we're in much better shape compared to last year's first race, it's really a great start for us. I tried all I could with Casey but he rode well and had a perfect race. Unfortunately, there was too much difference between our bikes in the straight. He went a bit faster at the end of the race and I was beginning to slip and lose grip. But this is a good point to start from."

Dani Pedrosa, Repsol Honda (3rd, 43'11.318)
"I'm happy with third because we had so many problems this weekend. I tried to follow the others but I had to stick with my pace. At some point, I lost the rhythm, I was sliding a lot in the late stages of the race. I was able to block Hopkins for third so I'm happy with the result."
