Hopkins still chasing elusive podium place

Rizla Suzuki's John Hopkins put in an outstanding showing at the Commercialbank Grand Prix Of Qatar on Saturday, equalling his best ever MotoGP finish. Even more impressive was the fact that Hopkins was in extreme pain emanating from his injured right hand.

Hopkins fourth place is his highest in MotoGP alongside last year's race in China but, although delighted to start the season strongly amongst the frontrunners, the Anglo-American is still itching for a first podium finish to accompany last year's first ever pole position in the class.

Team Manager Paul Denning was pleased with Hopkins' performance, and expressed his satisfaction with Hopkins' level-headedness.

"John did everything – and more – that we wanted of him and I am sure he would have loved to have been on that podium. He had a good go on the last lap, but it wasn't going to happen without a massive risk and it was good to see him show maturity and bring the bike and himself home safely."
