Dani Pedrosa yesterday attended an event celebrating his contract renewal to promote a Spanish sunglasses brand, and used the opportunity to speak to the media about his expectations for round two of the MotoGP World Championship.

"It will be a very open race, coming at the start of the season," explained Pedrosa. "There are more experienced riders when it comes to know the best way to go forward, and in this sense Rossi is one of the frontrunners. He is the most consistent rider."

Evaluating his RC212V race debut at Losail last weekend, the Repsol Honda rider declared that "we had very high expectations, but it's a good starting point considering how the weekend went. Now we head to another race where I think that Fiat Yamaha hold the advantage. They have good traction and their tyres are working very well."

The much talked about tyre regulations that came into effect as of car were also commented on by Pedrosa, who noted that "fine tuning a bike is difficult, and it takes a lot to adapt the tyres on any given day. This new aspect will be decisive in terms of giving the underdogs better positions, and equally the other way round."
