Frequently one of the most highly-attended Grands Prix of the season, a huge turnout is expected once more at Jerez for this week's first European round of the MotoGP World Championship. As such, authorities in the southern Spanish city have taken specific measures to enable easy access to the Circuito De Jerez.

"In 2006 we achieved, thanks to the efforts of the Andalucia council, a stretch of the Jerez-Arcos motorway dedicated exclusively to circuit access. However, this still was not sufficient for avoiding traffic jams and delays," said Mayor Pilar Sanchez. "This year our main focus is the lack of parking places, as a result of which we have tripled the designated parking zones to avoid the bottlenecks experienced last year."

A command post has been set up to improve coordination, and also 80 traffic directors to help ease the influx of MotoGP fans, alongside 736 police representatives.
