Michelin expecting front-end advantage this weekend

Michelin's Jean-Philippe Weber has picked out some key points to bear in mind regarding tyres at the Circuito de Jerez, a track where the teams have tested three times on the new 800cc bikes.

"It's a fairly symmetrical circuit, and you need good support on the back tyre and a really stable front end. The asphalt is quite old, and the fact that MotoGP and Formula 1 teams both do a lot of testing on it means that it's a bit kinder to the tyres," noted Weber.

"We think that the 16" front is going to give our riders an edge, because they can enter the corners quicker and change direction more easily.

The tyres that we will use will not be too different to those used at the Official Test. The compounds will be based on the information obtained in testing, adapted to the climate," he concluded.
