Riding a Garelli bike, Gresini edged out fellow Italians Domenico Brigaglia and Paolo Casoli to take victory, with the former having started on pole for the historic Grand Prix.

Now the head of Gresini Racing, the success continued for one of the MotoGP paddock's most well-known faces after his Spanish triumph that season. He was crowned World Champion following ten consecutive victories in the category.

After retiring as a rider, he moved into management, and yesterday celebrated 10 years of success in the World Championship. Today he spoke to motogp.com about his memories of the past decade, and his 125cc Spanish victory.
