Bancaja Aspar's Gabor Talmacsi picked up where he left off in Qatar to top the timesheets in the first 125cc Free Practice session at Jerez.

The Hungarian starlet was fastest in practice and took pole in qualifying at Losail two weeks ago, only to lose out to race winner Hector Faubel by 0.073 seconds in the opening round of the season - and this morning demonstrated his sharpness once again.

A hot lap of Jerez's 4.423km circuit in 1'48.579 in the first run-out for the Gran Premio bwin.com de España weekend saw Talmacsi emerge as the fastest participant of the morning, 0.253 seconds ahead of Red Bull KTM 125's Tomoyoshi Koyoma - the only non-Aprilia rider in the top five.

Just behind the leading pair, the Aprilia trio of Sergio Gadea, Mattia Pasini and World Championship leader Faubel completed the list of the five quickest participants, all within seven tenths of a second of Talmacsi's pacesetting lap.

Derbi riders Lukas Pesek, third in Qatar, and Michael Ranseder were respectively sixth and eighth quickest in the early session at the popular southern Spanish circuit, with Skilled Racing Team's Simone Corsi sitting between them in seventh place on the timesheet.

Meanwhile, Multimedia Racing's Raffaele De Rosa recorded the top speed of the morning, at 210.9 kmph on his Aprilia, but he could only manage the ninth quickest lap, while another Aprilia rider, Polaris World's Joan Olive, completed the top ten.
