Having seen team-mate Dani Pedrosa take pole just over four tenths of a second ahead of him in one of the closest ever qualifying sessions in MotoGP history at Jerez, World Champion Nicky Hayden is understandably concerned with his 11th placed grid start for Sunday's race.

The Kentucky Kid will need a great start and a solid performance over the 27 laps of the MotoGP Gran Premio bwin.com de España after qualifying 0.432 seconds and ten places off pole.

The 25 year-old certainly has his work cut out if he is to push through the traffic ahead of him and do battle with the likes of Pedrosa, Valentino Rossi, Carlos Checa, Colin Edwards and Casey Stoner for a podium finish and the earn the vital points required to defend his title.

During Saturday's proceedings the cameras in the pitbox caught a glimpse of King Hayden's funky new fairing design and the American will be keen to live up to his number one billing as the season progresses.
