Melandri, De Angelis and Pasini lead the way in morning warmups

Marco Melandri was the fastest rider at the MotoGP warmup, putting in a fastest lap of 1'41.288. The Italian came in ahead of John Hopkins, Colin Edwards, Valentino Rossi, Carlos Checa and Nicky Hayden at Jerez to set the scene for what will surely be an exciting race. Melandri has kept a low profile over the weekend, but has the consistency to pull a victory out of the bag this afternoon.

Alex de Angelis was the fastest rider in the morning 250cc session, with a time of 1'45.086. He came in ahead of Hiroshi Aoyama, Andrea Dovizioso and his Master MVA Aspar team-mate Alvaro Bautista. Poleman Jorge Lorenzo was 0.766 seconds off the San Marino rider's time.

Mattia Pasini continued his pole-earning form by heading the field in the 125cc warmup. The Italian was the only rider to go round in under 1'49, over a second ahead of second fastest rider Esteve Rabat. Meanwhile Gabor Talmacsi, Simone Corsi and Hector Faubel completed the list of the five quickest riders in the early session.
