Gresini Honda duo round off Jerez test on top

Marco Melandri and Toni Elias were the two fastest riders on the final day of post-race testing at the Circuito de Jerez, with the Gresini Honda the only ones to break the 1'40 barrier on a dry –if windy- day.

Melandri put in a marathon run of 72 laps of the track, whilst Randy de Puniet was the rider to undertake the most laps over the two days alongside Carlos Checa and Colin Edwards.

Racewinner Valentino Rossi and World Champion Nicky Hayden concentrated on their setups rather than looking for fast times, whilst a number of teams did not take up the opportunity to test. Rizla Suzuki, Team Roberts, the official Ducati riders, Konica Minolta Honda and Dani Pedrosa were all absent for the final day of action. Aprilia test rider Alex Debon rode alongside the MotoGP teams during the day's run-out on track.
