Brivio preparing Yamaha assault for Turkey

Following a successful start to the season, Fiat Yamaha lead both the individual and team standings due to the success of Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards

Following on from a successful start to the season, with Fiat Yamaha leading both the individual and team standings due to the success of Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards, Davide Brivio is confident ahead of the visit to the relatively uncharted territories of Istanbul and Shanghai with the 800cc bikes. Speaking after Sunday's race, where both of the Yamaha factory riders placed on the podium, the Italian Manager analysed the problems that the teams may encounter at the next race on April 22nd.

"We head to Turkey looking to attack, because China might be difficult for us and we may have to defend more. As far finding the right tyres is concerned, it will be new for us all because we haven't tested at the track," commented Brivio. "Turkey has never been a good track for Yamaha; the first year we did ok, but last year we experienced some problems. The cold conditions won't help us either, and the last time I checked the temperature at Istanbul Park was –2!"

Despite next month's race being the first at a track where testing has not taken place, the Fiat Yamaha boss is not too worried about unpleasant surprises from the M1. "We did a lot of tests at varied tracks, and the good news is that it seems like the bike is working fairly well everywhere. It seems to have a solid base, so we'll see on the Friday what we need to work on.
