Finishing third at Sunday's Gran Premio bwin.com de España, Colin Edwards was back on the podium for the first time since last year's race in China. It was a welcome return for the popular American, who is still in search of his first MotoGP victory, but it wasn't plain sailing for the ‘Texan Tornado' as he held off the threat from Toni Elias, as he noted in the post-race press conference.

"I remember one time a few years ago, back in 2003, watching the 250cc race here and seeing Elias burn through the field. What a way to make yourself an instant Spanish hero! So when I looked at my pit board and saw ‘Elias' and the times getting closer and closer then I thought ‘Please, anybody but Elias'. In the end I just managed to hold him off."

Edwards completed two days of testing post-race, and will now head home for a short break before the next race of the season at Istanbul.
