Lavilla returns to winning ways at opening BSB round

Gregorio Lavilla was back to winning ways at the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Gregorio Lavilla was back to winning ways at the opening round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, taking victory in both races at the Brands Hatch circuit where he missed out on the title last season.

The Airwaves Ducati rider faced stiff competition from young talents Leon Camier and Jonathan Rea in race one. "I had a bad start but was able to pick up the pace and catch Leon," commented Lavilla. "He rode really well and it was tough to hold onto first position." Defending champion Ryuichi Kiyonari languished in eighth place.

The second race was a more clear-cut affair for Lavilla. He opened up a ten second gap on the chasing pack, before a crash by Malcolm Ashley forced a restart. The Spaniard started again from scratch and took his second victory of the day.

The next round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship takes place at Thruxton this weekend.
