Scottish rider Kev Coghlan will finally get the chance to make his 2007 World Championship debut this weekend, when he steps in for the injured Mike di Meglio in the 125cc race in Turkey. Di Meglio, a former winner of the race in 2005 in his first and thus far only World Championship victory, is currently on the mend from a fractured collarbone and gives up his spot in Team Scot for the third race of the 2007 season.

Coghlans previous appearance in 125cc came his home race at Donington Park in 2005, and he was this year pencilled in to ride for Winona WCM Racing in 250cc. However, with the temporary withdrawal of Andy Hydes team from the championship at the start of the year Coghlan has decided to focus his attention on the British title, and came in third at Thruxton on Sunday before undergoing his medical for Istanbul and processing his international licence.

Im absolutely thrilled to be given a Grand Prix chance especially after it appeared that my dream had ended, commented Coghlan. Its a frantic time. On Monday I was in Rugby to sort out my international paperwork and I fly out to Turkey on Wednesday morning. I cant wait.

The Red Bull MotoGP Academy graduate finished fourth in last years Spanish 125cc Championship.
