Debon unlikely to replace Locatelli in Turkey

Much speculation in recent weeks has surrounded Aprilia test rider and wild card participant Alex Debon's standing in for injured Metis Gilera rider Roberto Locatelli whilst the Italian is sidelined, but it seems that Debon will almost certainly not be riding this weekend at Istanbul Park.

"As things stand at the moment I will not be riding in the races in Turkey or China and, if I were to substitute Roberto Locatelli, it would be at one of the following Euorpean races," stated the Spaniard to motogp.com. Debon is already scheduled to compete at all three of his home races and perhaps the Italian rounds as well this year, as he did at Jerez.

"As Roberto's foot injury is quite serious I expect that he will take a while to return to action. In any case, replacing someone doesn't make for a comfortable situation. I already experienced this last year when I stood in for Hector Barbera after he broke his wrist. In any case, I will continue to focus on my work as Sporting Director for Jorge Lorenzo and Pol Espargaro," concluded Debon, who will be in Turkey to advise the Spanish duo.
