The overall physical condition of Italian rider Roberto Locatelli is gradually improving, following his crash during practice nearly four weeks ago at the Jerez Grand Prix.

The Metis Gilera rider has undergone surgery at a hospital in Imola, to remove the plate which was used to hold together his left collarbone during his initial treatment in Spain. He has also been given equipment which helps him to restart using his mouth so that he can return to consuming solid food.

Over the next days it is expected that he will have a further assessment on the healing of his facial injuries, while he will also slowly begin his rehabilitation process under the guidance of the experienced doctors of MotoGP's Clinica Mobile.
