En route to Istanbul for this weekend's Grand Prix of Turkey, Fiat Yamaha's American star Colin Edwards stopped in at the annual Greek Motorcycle Show in Athens to meet with fans and talk to the local media.

The 33 year old from Houston, Texas, has made a solid start to the campaign behind his lighting quick Italian team-mate Valentino Rossi, finishing sixth in Qatar and third in Jerez – amassing 26 points in the process. He currently sits fourth in the overall standings, just behind Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa, with Rossi leading the way on 45 points from a possible 50 thus far.

Following the short post-Jerez break from racing, Edwards is ready for battle again in Turkey and during his one day visit to Athens he took time to visit the Yamaha stand at the Greek Motorcycle Show - where he received a warm welcome and signed autographs on posters, helmets and t-shirts for delighted fans.

At a press attended by more then 80 journalists from the Greek media, Edwards looked ahead to Sunday's race, commenting: "It will be interesting to see how the new rules for tyres, will work at Turkey, but I am confident that Michelin will find a good solution. Our bike is working pretty well and we are very fast around the track, especially when we have room and no-one blocks our way, so the key element will be to make a good start."
