Current Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo appears to be locked in a battle for supremacy with compatriot Alvaro Bautista in Turkey.

Current Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo appears to be locked in a battle for supremacy with compatriot Alvaro Bautista in Turkey after the Spanish pair of World Champions recorded the fastest two times of this morning's 250cc free practice session, Lorenzo edging out his rival by just 0.007s.

It is Master – Mapfre Aspar's Bautista who has provisional pole for tomorrow's race after his success yesterday afternoon, and with just 0.062 between the pair in that Friday session Lorenzo will need obviously need to focus closely to edge ahead of the 125cc champion and win pole.

Such are the tight margins amongst the front runners in this category in Istanbul, Andrea Dovizioso will also be looking be looking for pole in the second qualifying session having been second yesterday, just 0.015s behind Bautista, and third in the latest session - 0.367 off the pace.

Dovizioso's fellow Honda rider Julian Simon was fourth fastest in the customary hour-long session which started at 11.15am local time, while Emmi – Caffe Latte Aprilia's Thomas Luthi completed a familiar looking top five.
