Hopkins happy with return to Shanghai

Rizla Suzuki rider John Hopkins will be at the scene of his best ever MotoGP result next week when the World Championship returns to China.

Rizla Suzuki rider John Hopkins will be at the scene of his best ever MotoGP result next week when the World Championship returns to China. The Anglo-American finished fourth last year after a front row start, and was one of the standout performers of the race. He arrives in Shanghai as one of the in-form riders of the moment, and in the opening three Grands Prix he has not been far away from the podium battle at various times.

Speaking to motogp.com after the Grand Prix of Turkey, Hopkins gave his thoughts on the race at Istanbul Park, and what lies ahead for him in China.

"First of all I have to congratulate Bridgestone. Last year I had to pull in for a new tyre, and now they have eight riders in the top ten. So we had the package to be on the podium before we had a few problems. I got a little aggressive with Marco (Melandri) during the race," commented Hopkins.

"I'm happy to go to China; we got fourth there last year, and that was when the bike was not at its best. Now the Bridgestones are working well and I can't wait to get there."
