Rizla Suzuki are one of the teams profiting from the change to 800cc bikes, with the GSV-R800 showing itself to be extremely competitive at the start of the season. After seeing his riders lap at a blistering pace at Istanbul Park, Team Manager Paul Denning was understandably disappointed that this could not be transformed into a podium finish.

"It's strange, because we should be happy with the performance of the bike and the riders. To be honest we are disappointed with the result," was Denning's verdict on the weekend's action. "Looking at the lap times for the last nineteen laps, Chris lost out by 0.5 to Casey Stoner at the front of the race. He showed great speed again. John had a great fight as well, but was unable to get onto the podium. I suppose that to be disappointed after having a rider in the top six is a step forward after last year," he added.

Denning saw his team look extremely strong in preseason and under different circumstances they may have been challenging for even better positions during the first three races. The competitive consistency, however, comes as no surprise to the Hampshire based Rizla Suzuki boss.

"The package is definitely good enough to challenge in China; it's good enough to challenge anywhere," he explained. "We just need to get those last pieces together to take the next step."
