250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo will turn 20 on the opening day of qualifying for the Sinopec Great Wall Lubricants Grand Prix of China, and has the chance to treat himself to a third Grand Prix victory of the season from the opening four races.

The Shanghai International Circuit is the only track on the calendar where the Spaniard has raced and not been on the podium, Lorenzo having finished ninth in 2005 and fourth last season. The quarter litre riders do not participate at Laguna Seca, and Misano makes its return to the World Championship after a 14 year absence.

The Spain's No1 Aprilia rider is determined to avoid a repeat of last season, where he also won the opening two races but suffered a dip in form which opened up the championship. Arch-rival Andrea Dovizioso and countryman Alvaro Bautista are the two other in-form riders of the moment, and their credentials will not have gone unnoticed by Lorenzo.
