Former 125cc World Champion Thomas Luthi has made a promising start to his 250cc career, having moved up a class at the end of 2006.

The Swiss rider has twice finished in the top five in his opening three races in the class, most recently at the Grand Prix of Turkey. Luthi spoke to motogp.com after the race to analyse his start to the year, and to identify some of his goals.

"I have started well in 250cc; two top five finishes and only one DNF, which was a technical problem. I hope to continue like this, and maybe even get a podium," he said. "Now I have to follow the more experienced guys and move up step by step."

Luthi didn't finish last year's 125cc race in China, but is showing the form to challenge category veterans Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Dovizioso and Alex de Angelis for the rostrum spots.
