Lorenzo keen to maintain momentum in Shanghai

The 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo arrives in Shanghai for the fourth Grand Prix of the season in a highly determined mood.

The 250cc World Champion Jorge Lorenzo arrives in Shanghai for the fourth Grand Prix of the season in a highly determined mood. The Fortuna Aprilia rider aims to improve on the fourth place finish he achieved in China in 2006 and finish on the podium again – just as he has in the first three races of this year.

Lorenzo has started his title defence in style, with two wins followed by a slight blip and a second place in Turkey, putting the Majorcan well in control in the World Championship, 18 points ahead of the Italian Andrea Dovizioso and 24 points in front of Alex de Angelis in the standings.

"I don't have great memories when it comes to the Shanghai circuit," admits Lorenzo. "Last year I didn't have a great race, I finished outside the podium places and I lost some ground on the championship leaders. But now I arrive here in different circumstances, as champion of the world and leading the standings."

"It's going to be a tough weekend, with plenty of competition, as has been shown in the two last races, and we are going to have to work our hardest to compete and to achieve a good result. What is also important is to get a good result even if a win is not possible, like in Istanbul, to secure a good amount of points and arrive at the European races well positioned and in high spirits".
