Aspar consider MotoGP move

Aspar Team Principal Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar' has spoken to motogp.com about a possible move into MotoGP.

Aspar Team Principal Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar' has spoken to motogp.com about a possible move into MotoGP.

The Spanish team boss praised his talented young riders in the 125cc and 250cc classes, but revealed that his dream is to eventually be producing young riders for his own MotoGP set-up rather than letting them go to established premier class teams.

However, Martinez cannot confirm that he will have representation in MotoGP in 2008 quite yet with plenty of hard work still to be done to get an agreement in place with a MotoGP-prepared manufacturer.

The Spaniard commented: "We are bidding to get into MotoGP and now we have to see if we can get everything together in the next few months to get into MotoGP next year. The ideal would be to compete in all three categories, it's our dream."

"The right idea would be to put one rider in the premier class but we can't confirm anything for now. We have to take it step by step. The goal is to be in MotoGP in 2008 with one rider but I have to repeat that it's a gradual process and we have to get the firm backing of one of the manufacturers."
