Expert eye: Pernat gives views ahead of MotoGP race in Shanghai

The manager of Ducati Marlboro rider Loris Capirossi Carlo Pernat spoke to motogp.com at the Sinopec Great Wall Lubricants Grand Prix of China, after the customary Saturday afternoon qualifying session, to give his thoughts ahead of the big race.

The MotoGP paddock veteran commented: "Rossi's brilliant pole lap and the difference between him and the other riders was not a great surprise for me because the new tyre regulations have had a big effect. For sure he registered a fantastic time, but we already know that the Michelin qualification tyres are good and that at the moment they are in front of Bridgestone in that sense."

"I think tomorrow will be an unknown quantity, because we will have to see how the Bridgestone race tyres respond and what the race conditions will be like. In my opinion the rhythm of race will not end up being that high."

"I don't think the top speeds or the power of the bikes will be as decisive as in Qatar. We've seen how the official Hondas have lapped very well and they are only a short way off the Ducati, and although this circuit has very long straight I don't think that will be such a determinant factor towards the end of the race."
