Pasini hoping for help from black cat

125cc poleman Mattia Pasini has a new weapon in his arsenal as he attempts to turn around his fortunes in Shanghai. The Polaris World rider and winner of the inaugural race in China has adorned his bike and garage with a picture of a black cat; a traditional good luck symbol.

Pasini has been on pole twice before this season, but is yet to finish a race due to a string of mechanical problems. Speaking at a press conference yesterday, he expressed a wary caution about heading the field.

"Pole counts for very little. I hope that my Aprilia doesn't give up on me and I can get my first points," said the Italian. "I'm very happy with the way I am improving, despite the lack of points, and I just hope that the cat brings me good luck."
