This morning's MotoGP class warm-up, which commenced at 10.40am local time, saw Ducati Marlboro's Casey Stoner lead the way with a time of 2'00.742.

The young Aussie talent, who starts today's fourth race of the season from fourth on the grid looking for his third win of the season, led the morning practice session ahead of Rizla Suzuki's John Hopkins - second on the grid - and Kawasaki's Randy de Puniet, who starts the race in seventh.

Most of the riders completed 10 or 11 laps in the customary 25 minute run-out, with the Repsol Honda pair of Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden ending the session as the fourth and fifth fastest respectively.

The Honda pair will hope for good race set-ups in order to be able to compete with Stoner's powerful Ducati when the action gets underway for real later today, as will Fiat Yamaha duo Valentino Rossi (on pole position) and Colin Edwards (third on the grid) who completed the warm-up in ninth and tenth.

Andrea Dovizioso (Kopron Team Scot) recorded the fastest time in the quarter litre class warm-up session. The Italian lapped in 2´06.079, ahead of pole man Jorge Lorenzo (Fortuna Aprilia) by just over three tenths of a second.

Alex de Angelis (Master Mapfre Aspar) was third, followed by Julian Simon (Repsol Honda) and the 125cc World Champion Alvaro Bautista (Master Mapfre Aspar).

Meanwhile the Hungarian Gabor Talmácsi was the fastest in the 125cc warm-up which opened the morning's proceedings in Shanghai.

The Bancaja Aspar rider, who will start from fourth place on the grid, went round in 2´13.546s, leading the way ahead of Michael Ranseder (Ajo Motorsport), who is ninth on the grid, and Simone Corsi (Skilled Racing Team), who starts today's single cylinder race in seventh.

The man on pole, Mattia Pasini (Polaris World) was fifth in the warm-up, followed by Hector Faubel (Bacanja Aspar), who is second on the grid.
