Rossi enjoyed battle of Shanghai

Valentino Rossi was on the podium once more in China, avenging his demons from 2006. However, he was unable to stay ahead of championship leader Casey Stoner despite a number of daring manoeuvres throughout the race, leaving him second in the overall classification. The five time MotoGP World Champion later explained the difficult task to the media.

"I enjoyed the battle with Casey a lot; I didn't want to just give up and follow him. I made a mistake but that is always possible when braking at the limit," said the Fiat Yamaha rider in the post-race press conference.

"I am upset about Turkey (where he dropped down the order after suffering tyre problems) because without that myself and Casey would be joint leaders of the championship now."

Rossi then turned his attention to Le Mans, where last year he led the race until eight laps from the flag before retiring with an engine problem. The sight of a distraught Rossi being escorted back to his garage as his misfortune continued is something that neither fans nor the man himself has forgotten.

"I am confident for Le Mans. I have a bad luck account open from last year," concluded ‘The Doctor'.
