The customary final Saturday morning 250cc free practice session in Le Mans ended with World Champion Jorge Lorenzo back at the head of the timesheets with a scorching lap time of 1'39.909s, as another circuit best lap was set ahead of this afternoon's second qualifying session for the Alice Grand Prix de France.

Lorenzo will be in search of his fourth pole position of the season when the quarter litre class riders re-emerge shortly after 3pm local time this afternoon, having enjoyed an excellent morning at the famous French venue. The Spaniard set the new circuit best time on the 25th of his 27 laps during the 60 minute session, shaving 0.073s off the time achieved by provisional pole man Mika Kallio yesterday afternoon in qualifying.

Friday saw Lorenzo in an unfamiliar second position in both 250 outings but the title-defending World Championship leader re-asserted his authority again in this session, whilst Kallio was just the ninth fastest rider as he lapped more than half a second slower than his Friday best.

Completing the top five behind Lorenzo this morning were usual suspects Andrea Dovizioso of Kopron Team Scot, who also bettered Kallio's fastest time from yesterday but by a margin of just 0.001s, along with team-mates Alex de Angelis and Alvaro Bautista (both Master – Mapfre Aspar) and Repsol Honda's Julian Simon.
