A rain curtailed 125cc first qualifying practice at the Gran Premio d'Italia Alice saw Bancaja Aspar's Hector Faubel come out on top of the timesheets, though even he managed just six laps before cutting short his drenched Mugello outing.

A rain curtailed 125cc first qualifying practice at the Gran Premio d'Italia Alice saw Bancaja Aspar's Hector Faubel come out on top of the timesheets, though even he managed just six laps before cutting short his drenched Mugello outing.

Indeed, from the start of the session the rain on the track was such that even the best lap times were 20-30 seconds slower than normal pace, with Faubel's best time 17.107s slower than the circuit best lap.

The second quickest rider was Kopron Team Scot's Mike di Meglio who was 0.744s slower than Faubel, whilst third placed rider Lukas Pesek was 4.471s off the best time.

Only 10 participants were counted as having officially qualified as 24 riders were outside the required 107% time margin of Faubel's effort.

There were no riders out on track towards the end of the session as the rain began to fall heavily, although certain hardy riders managed a total of nine laps before heading back into the safety and shelter of their pit-boxes with several minutes of allocated qualifying time still remaining.
