The most recent motogp.com survey has been one of the closest ever, with the readership split over whether World Championship leader Casey Stoner can break Valentino Rossi's Mugello winning streak this weekend.

The Italian is going for a sixth win in as many years at his home circuit, but faces a tough challenge in the shape of an on-form 21 year old Australian. Stoner has already taken three victories in 2007 onboard the Ducati Desmosedici GP7, and his team would like nothing more than their first MotoGP win at a track a stone's throw from their factory.

Motogp.com readers are plumping for the Ducati man it seems, although the votes were extremely close. Normally quick to ally themselves with Rossi, who has a proven pedigree and seven World Championships to his name, 14835 visitors to the official MotoGP website pledged their vote to Stoner, compared with the only slightly inferior 14742 Rossi voters. A difference of just over 100 votes is a slim margin, but could perhaps be eclipsed in proximity by the gap between first and second in the Gran Premio d'Italia Alice, which in recent years has been one of the closest run races of the season.

Both riders will have their first chance to get reacquainted with the Mugello circuit today, when they begin practice session's for Sunday's race.
