Mugello hit by torrential downpour

Mugello hit by torrential downpour

Torrential rain hit the Mugello circuit at the start of the first 125cc qualifying session

Torrential rain hit the Mugello circuit at the start of the first 125cc qualifying session, leaving many of the lower cylinder class riders without more than a few laps to their name and delaying the start of the second MotoGP free practice session by 10 minutes. With more downpours predicted over the course of this weekend, a few riders will be favouring their chances of victory. The last wet race at the Italian track was won by Valentino Rossi back in 2004, whilst Alex Barros also has a wet weather victory at Mugello to his name. Other riders to have gone well at the last wet weather race, held two weeks ago at Le Mans, are podium finishers Chris Vermeulen, Marco Melandri and Casey Stoner.

You can make your pick for the winner of an eventual wet weather race in this weekend's motogp.com survey.
