With the support of Fausto Gresini's MotoGP satellite team and rider Marco Melandri, Honda Italia last weekend held a presentation for their new Italian talent search.

The new program will take part during school summer break to avoid clashing with the youngsters' education, and will be focused on technical and physical preparation for the world of riding.

The Italian Motorcyle Federation have been active participants in the program, with Anonio Vitillo assuming the role of Sporting Director and Mario Lega -250cc World Champion in 1977- onboard as an instructor. Honda Italia have designed a new bike for the 100cc competition; the NSF100.

At the end of the selection process 21 riders will be chosen to take part in a provisional five race season, which is pencilled in to begin on July 29th at the Ottobiano Kartodromo. Bikes will be distributed on a lottery basis, with points being awarded for teams instead of riders, in a key difference between the Honda Italia project and other youth initiatives.
