Colin Edwards has experienced a mixed opening third to the 2007 season, having experienced his first pole and a podium finish, followed by some disappointing results from the past two races. The Texas Tornado's slump in form unfortunately came after his maiden top position in qualifying, although the American is still glowing in his praise of the Yamaha M1.

"In qualifying with traction I still believe that we have one of, if not, the best bike on the grid. As far as the race goes, we still have a bit to go," said Edwards at the official presentation of this weekend's race. "I like the Catalunya track; I won a BMW here last year! So I have good memories of the place."

Asked for a prediction for Sunday, Edwards didn't stray too far from home. "You never bet against Valentino (Rossi). He's my team-mate and I know what he can do, even though Casey Stoner has beaten him already this year."
