Hayden pulls out of Suzuka 8 Hours race

MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden has withdrawn from the Suzuka 8 Hours race, where he had been scheduled to compete this year for Honda. The American yesterday confirmed that he would not be participating despite his love of the race, choosing to concentrate on his title defence.

"It's a shame, because last time I went I was the fastest rider on track until we got to the superpole stage," said ‘Trick Daddy', who refused to rule out possible future participation in the prestigious Japanese endurance event.

"It's something that I would love to do again some time, but the last thing I or Honda need when I'm getting to grips with the 800cc is to jump on a different bike," summarised ‘The Kentucky Kid'.

Other Honda riders who may be in the running for the Suzuka 8 Hours include MotoGP competitors Carlos Checa and Marco Melandri.
