In the first Saturday session on day two of the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya the 125cc riders took to the Montmelo circuit at 9am local time under clear, blue skies in warm temperatures again and it was Spaniard Sergio Gadea of Bancaja Aspar who headed the timesheets in FP2.

As he has done in several practice sessions this season Polaris Worlds Mattia Pasini held the fastest time for much of the 45 minute run-out, but eventually gave way to Gadea by just 0.176s. This afternoons second qualifying session will see Gadea aim to improve his sixth place provisional starting position in the knowledge that his Saturday morning time would have been good enough for provisional pole.

The fastest non-Aprilia rider this morning was the continually impressive English youngster Bradley Smith who lapped just 0.210s slower than Gadea on his Repsol Honda 125cc machinery.

Gadeas World Championship leading Bancaja Aspar colleagues Hector Faubel and Gabor Talmacsi, first and second respectively in the general standings, completed the top five this morning - while the man on provisional pole, Valsir Seedorf Derbis Lukas Pesek, was sixth.
