The top of the 250cc FP2 timesheet from the second morning at the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya had a familiar look to it, with Fortuna Aprilia's World Champion Jorge Lorenzo leading the way by 0.126s from Master – Mapfre Aspar's Alex de Angelis.

The quarter litre category's World title holder has never won a Grand Prix at Barcelona but having taken provisional pole yesterday and having lapped quickest again this morning he will aim to confirm pole this afternoon, to give himself the best possible chance of bouncing back from his Mugello disappointment in tomorrow's race.

Behind Lorenzo and De Angelis on the Saturday morning timesheet were Kopron Team Scot's Andrea Dovizioso and De Angelis' team-mate Alvaro Bautista, with Red Bull KTM's Mika Kallio completing the top five.

The man provisionally second on the starting grid, Team Toth Aprilia's Hector Barbera, was more than half a second slower than yesterday afternoon as the seventh quickest participant and will hope for a better showing when the 250 riders re-emerge at Montmelo to conclude qualifying at 3.05pm.
