Makoto Tanaka, the Repsol Honda team manager spoke to motogp.com at the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya, giving his current thoughts on the World Championship.

The Japanese team boss spoke about the constant improvements his mechanics are making to Dani Pedrosa and Nicky Haydens RC212V machinery and the tremendous effort both riders have been putting in so far in 2007:

Q. At Mugello Dani Pedrosa took a big sep forward and it seems like his bike is performing better. In what ways has the bike improved since the start of the season?

A. The changes to the chassis and exhaust system are more obvious but in terms of changing the engine we are trying lots of things. Every time they go out on the track the bike is different. Our riders have a difficult job but they are working well.

Q. Pedrosa still hasnt renewed his contract for next season, are you certain that he will stay with the team in 2008?

A. In terms of contracts we never renew them this early, but it will be done later this season. Dani has always ridden for Honda, when he was in 125cc and 250cc and when he made the step up to MotoGP. Personally I want him to keep riding with Honda and thats what Im hoping will happen.

Q. What are your hopes for the rest of the season in terms of the World Championship and the chances for both Repsol Honda riders?

A. Well, at the moment Dani is third and Nicky is a bit behind. But Dani crashed in Turkey when it wasn´t his fault and was taken out of the race. In the course of a long season you often have a couple of crashes which mean you don´t finish a race or two. If that hadn´t happened he would have more or less the same amount of points as the leaders, so I believe we still have a shot at the riders title.
