World Championship leader Casey Stoner will start tomorrows Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya fourth on the grid, after qualifying less than three tenths off the pole time set by title rival Valentino Rossi.

Perhaps more crucially for Sundays race though the young Aussies pace on race tyres was extremely impressive after his mechanics modified his set-up to give him more grip during this morning´s free practice session. None of Stoners three victories so far this year have come from pole so he is still confident of a win at the Barcelona track.

Having virtually completed a full distance on race tyres in the morning free practice run the Ducati Marlboro rider was the quickest participant in the session by nearly half a second, an advantage he will hope to retain for the seventh race of the season, which starts at 2pm local time tomorrow.

Stoner commented: ´Fourth position means Im a little bit disappointed, but anyway race set-up wise weve got a very good set-up and I think as we go into the race tomorrow it should be very hot, very similar to today, and well see what happens at the end. Were very happy with the way that the setting has gone.´
