British rider Bradley Smith took his second best ever race result in todays 125cc Grand Prix, but the Repsol Honda teenager believes that he could have won the race.

Smith had started from fourth on the grid, at the track which he knows well from his time in the Spanish Championship and his rookie year, and had held his ground until dropping down to eighth. Crashes in front of the sixteen year old meant that he was able to improve on his position, but he was still disappointed with a race from which he could have taken more.

I cant complain I suppose, but it was demoralising more than anything, because I could easily have won this race, he explained. I did the best that I could do with the bike today, and so did my team, but I was having to use braking that was more like what you would use when qualifying, and eventually you are going to make a mistake. After a small error on lap nine I couldnt catch the leading pack, but they werent in any way faster than me. I just had nobody to slipstream and was left losing time on the straight.
