With the race action at the Circuit de Catalunya completed, the MotoGP riders now turn their attentions to two days of post-GP testing at the Spanish track. This weeks testing is particularly important, being the last opportunity for the teams to put their 800cc bikes through their paces in a relaxed setting before the days following the race at Brno in late August.

With the tyre war stepping up in the premier class, some new arrivals will be experimented with by all three tyre manufacturers. Dunlop have already been using 16 front tyres in the past two races, with Bridgestone tight-lipped as to whether they will also be trying out the slightly smaller diameter rubber. Michelin had two riders on the podium yesterday, but will not be getting complacent in the face of Bridgestones most successful MotoGP season.

Two big shocks this week involve the Australian duo of Anthony West and Andrew Pitt, with both undertaking test duties with MotoGP teams. 250cc star West will be riding Olivier Jacques Kawasaki today, whilst the Frenchman recovers from injuries suffered in practice, and Pitt will take to the track on the Yamaha M1. For Kawasaki testing is of particular importance, with regular test rider Naoki Matsudo out injured.
