Alex Debon suffered home heartbreak at the Circuit de Catalunya last Sunday, with a late crash denying what could perhaps have been a top four finish for the experienced Spaniard on his second wild card appearance of the season.

Stepping out from his role as Aprilia test rider and advisor for Jorge Lorenzo and Pol Espargaro, Debon had his first run-out on the factory 250cc bike since his fifth place at the opening race of the season in another home Grand Prix. Challenging Thomas Luthi for fourth place on lap sixteen, Debon took a tumble on the slow section of the track and was eliminated from the fight. Determined to finish, he picked the bike back up and took his factory Aprilia round for the remainder of the race to finish sixteenth.

Paying tribute to his team, Debon spoke to motogp.com after the race.

Im really happy with Aprilias work over the weekend, they worked very hard. It was a real pity that we couldnt finish at least fourth, with me crashing out on the slowest corner of the circuit whilst on a good race pace. Well see at Brno what we can do when we get another chance.

Lined up for a selection of further Grands Prix appearances this season, Debon will also be back on the bike this week for further testing.

Were going to practice in Valencia this week, on Thursday and Friday, and then well go to Jerez. The development of the RSA continues, so well keep moving that forward the best we can, he concluded.
