With Jonathan Rea drafted in for a wild card appearance at Donington Park next weekend, Team Roberts will have a chance to obtain more feedback from different sources as they look to take a step up with the KR212V. The Briton participates in the Nickel & Dime British Grand Prix off the back of a successful outing at the Suzuka 300km race last Sunday, where he won the endurance race alongside fellow Bennetts British Superbike rides Ryuichi Kiyonari.

Team Roberts are a British based team, with their headquarters located in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Manager Chuck Aksland spends most of his between-race downtime in England, where he has had the chance to watch Rea first-hand.

I watch the BSB championship, and we all agreed that at Jonathans age and where hes at, to have a bit of exposure in a MotoGP race would be good for him, explained Aksland at Catalunya last weekend.

We wanted to do the best for our British sponsor motorpoint.co.uk and also to have a home rider at the Grand Prix. We spoke to Chris Herring from Honda and with Michelin, and they all agreed that Jonathan would be a good choice.

Despite their recent transition to a two rider team, Kenny Roberts Srs MotoGP outfit have a strict criteria to meet based on their use of only one participant. With one bike for each rider, engine restrictions mean that it may not be possible for Team Roberts to have an increased lineup at every race in 2007.

Weve had Kurtis (Roberts, brother of Kenny Jr) in for the last two races; Honda have been cooperative, but we still have to respect the engine mileage restrictions of a one rider team. Its important to get as much feedback as we can, added Aksland, who expressed his desire to run another wild card in the US Grand Prix.

We might go back to one rider for Germany or Assen in order to be able to participate with two at Laguna Seca, which would be nice.
