The statisticians pick out some key numbers ahead of this weekends Nickel & Dime British Grand Prix:

8 - Honda have not had a victory in MotoGP since Toni Elias won in Portugal at the penultimate race of 2006. This eight race sequence without a win is the longest barren spell for Honda in the premier class since 1991.

7 - In direct contrast to the MotoGP category, all seven 250cc races this year have been won by the rider who has qualified on pole. This is the longest ever run of 250cc GP races won from pole since 1974 when full pole position records became available.

5 - The first five riders home in the MotoGP race in Catalunya were riding motorcycles from five different manufacturers. The last time this occurred in the premier class was back at the Swedish GP in 1972 at Anderstorp when the first five riders across the line were: Giacomo Agostini (MV-Agusta), Rod Gould (Yamaha), Bo Granath (Husqvarna), Dave Simmonds (Kawasaki) and Kim Newcombe (Konig).

0.39 seconds - The time covering the first three riders across the line in the MotoGP race in Catalunya, making it the eighth closest podium of all time in the premier-class of Grand Prix racing.
