The youngsters competing in the third round of the 2007 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at Donington this weekend, as part of the Nickel & Dime British Grand Prix, have had a busy time at the English venue this afternoon.

The youngsters competing in the third round of the 2007 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at Donington this weekend, as part of the Nickel & Dime British Grand Prix, have had a busy time at the English venue this afternoon.

The potential stars of the future have been putting in plenty of laps on their KTM machinery, with a free practice session followed by two qualifying practices – all taking place after the culmination of today's action in the three elite Grand Prix categories.

At the end of the second 25 minute qualifying practice it was 14 year-old Italian rider Lorenzo Savadori who came out on top, taking pole for tomorrow's race with a time of 1'49.128s. Behind him on the grid will be Frenchman Cyril Carrillo who qualified second and Spanish pair Luis Salom and Cristian Trabalon who were third and fourth respectively.

After two rounds, Savadori is the current championship leader thanks to a win and a second place which give him a four point advantage at the head of the standings – an gap he will aim to increase in Saturday's third contest of the season.
