The current quarter litre class World Championship runner up lapped in 1'46.134s, a time 14.475s off the circuit best lap set by Jorge Lorenzo last year – highlighting the slow pace of today's action due to the unpredictable British climate.

Second quickest was Master – Mapfre Aspar's Alvaro Bautista who lapped 0.306s slower than Dovizioso on the last of his 27 attempts, with Hiroshi Aoyama third quickest with the last of his own 27 laps being 0.728s off the pace.

Aoyama's Red Bull KTM colleague Mika Kallio was fourth quickest while World Champion, current championship leader and last year's race winner Lorenzo was fifth fastest.
